Project: Baroque Bass Violone, For Mia, by Jim Clinton, Retrofit 1/2 Bass with Baroque neck/scroll design

Mia requested converting this hybrid/carved top 1/2 bass to a Baroque Bass Violone 6 String. This is an elderly bass that had a one-piece neck/block. It therefore required modernizing with a standard and much more serviceable Neck block separate from the neck. The neck had been broken already, so there was no way to know the original sound. While the top was off, it was discovered that the bar was off-angle, and very low, also the top was very thin requiring a center patch and re bar to manage the 6-string tension. All this had to be completed before beginning the neck design and build. Finally, after much time, the neck design began to come to pass. A few repairs were and will be done such as a an attempted epoxy neck to back repair and wood screws attaching the back and ribs to the neck block.
