Gluing corner blocks onto the Lupot violin
Violin-in-process, Nicolas Lupot 1808, by Jim Clinton, ETA Spring 2021
The French "Stradivari" as he was called for his craftsmanship and copies of Stradivari's work, Nicolas Lupot built this violin in 1808. It is the model for Jim's next creation. It is being built under commission alongside a second one like it of the same model. Our client will select from the two and play it for a "French" music recital. This "A" version will be made to look similar to the original Lupot 1808, the "B" version will allow some varnish and tonewood differences to personalize this instrument.
